Celebrate Spring Events
October newsletter invitation

We’re excited to invite you to two upcoming events being hosted by Ostend Medical Centre, part of the Waiheke Health Trust.  What better way to celebrate the arrival of more sunshine and warmer weather than with a focus on your health and that of your loved ones?

Morning Tea to Welcome Back Dr Zoe Douglass

Ostend Medical Centre is delighted to have Dr Zoe Douglass back with us on Waiheke!  We don’t want our patients to have to wait for a doctor’s visit to see Zoe, so are inviting the community to a morning tea to say hello in person.

Please join us on Thursday 23rd October between 10:30 and 11:30am under the pōhutukawa tree in front of the clinic to say nau mai, hoki mai to Zoe. If you can attend, give us a call on 372 5005 or email reception@ostendmedical.co.nz to let us know that you will be stopping by.

And just a reminder that if you have enjoyed working with Dr Douglass in the past and would like her to become your designated provider at Ostend Medical Centre, to please let our reception team know.

This is primarily an administrative designation, so while Zoe will have the overarching responsibility for your medical care, you can continue to work with our other clinicians as needed, especially if you need to be seen for urgent care or a specialist service like minor surgery.  And if we’ve already notified you that we are shifting your designated provider to Zoe, you do not need to contact us to confirm this change.

Men’s Health Matters

Even if you didn’t attend our free Men’s Health event in June, you may have heard from one of the 100+ men in attendance that a great time was had by all.  In fact, the final question of the night was, ‘When can we do this again?’

We’re thrilled to say that the answer is: Wednesday 12th November at 7pm at the Waiheke RSA.

With round one having been such a success, we’re bringing back Dr Alistair Sommerville and Dr Orna McGinn along with the format of the panel answering the attendees’ most pressing, anonymously submitted questions.  However, we’re expanding the topics this time to focus on both physical and mental health for men and are delighted to share that the GPs will be joined by Travis Field, the recently retired Chair of the Big Buddy Mentoring Trust, who is an expert in men’s friendship as well as a mental health clinician from the team at Fresh Minds.

With dinner specials available from the RSA on the night and spot prizes from PlaceMakers, Waiheke Golf Club and local fitness providers, we can guarantee both a good time and great, evidence-based information.  So, talk to your friends, your work mates, your dad and your sons and then give us a call on 372 5005 or email reception@ostendmedical.co.nz to book in for another free Men’s Health Matters session.
