Edward Schuck

Ed is an investment consultant and professional director with more than 30 years’ experience in New Zealand, the US and the UK.

Ed is principal of Fidato Advisory Ltd, a consulting firm which provides independent assurance services and governance advice to wholesale investors including charitable and consumer trusts, iwi groups, family trusts and Crown agencies. Prior to establishing Fidato in 2010, Ed was managing director of Russell Investment Group for 10 years.  In this role, he had overall responsibility for Russell’s consulting and funds management operations in New Zealand.

In addition to his involvement with Fidato, Ed holds several governance roles. As chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Provident Fund, Ed and his fellow trustees have been appointed by the Minister of Finance to manage nine government superannuation schemes with assets in excess of $1.8 billion. Ed is also the chair-designate of the SIL and MFL superannuation funds. Established in the 1970s, these funds have more than 20,000 members with collective assets of $650 million. Ed is a Licensed Independent Trustee supervised by the Financial Markets Authority and was formerly an independent director of Accuro Health Insurance.

Ed completed a PhD in Portfolio Management at the University of Auckland in 2002. Prior education includes an MBA (Finance) from London Business School and a BSc (Computer & Systems Engineering) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also a chartered member of the Institute of Directors.

He lives on Waiheke with his partner Niki and enjoys cooking, DIY projects and volunteering in the McKenzie Reserve.
