Tom is a senior healthcare professional with experience in quality improvement and management, physician management and engagement, patient safety, knowledge management, healthcare economics, infection control, hospital design and hospital management at a senior level in Asia, United States and New Zealand. Tom has worked in hospitals, provider organizations, NGOs and government in senior leadership roles, focusing on the development of systems and processes to ensure the provision of safe and high-quality care.
Prior to returning to New Zealand in 2018, Tom was Vice President for Quality and Medical Affairs at Parkway Pantai/IHH Healthcare Berhad in Singapore and the Chief Quality and Medical Officer for Hoan My Medical Corporation in Vietnam. He has worked in New Zealand for the Auckland DHB and the Ministry of Health and in the United States as CEO of Qlarant, a leading not-for-profit quality improvement organization working in hospitals and other health care settings across the US.
Tom currently serves as an International Surveyor for the Joint Commission International assessing compliance with international standards in hospitals and ambulatory care centres worldwide, as the Senior Health Advisor for the Reliance Foundation in Mumbai, India and as the Quality and Safety Advisor for Hospice West Auckland.
